The Sony Xperia X and the Xperia Compact were launched with Android Marshmallow out of the box. In November last year, they were updated to Android 7.0 Nougat. Now, with the Android 7.1.1 update rolling out, the phones receive new features and updates. The Android update comes with a new build number 34.3.A.0.194.
The update also brings with it the June Android security patch. The update was confirmed by Xperia Blog by a post that read, “Sony Mobile is rolling a new Nougat update for Xperia X and Xperia X Compact owners that moves them from Android 7.0 to 7.1.1.”
Android 7.1.1 brings several features including support for circular app icons, keyboard image insertion, night light, new emojis, quick notification and improved battery optimisations. However, a few users who have already received the software update have complained that signature 7.1.1 features are missing. One user complained about the missing app shortcuts while another complained about the clock widget missing for the lock screen. On the flip side, a few users also mentioned that Sony has brought in a New Smart Stamina Mode and Xperia Actions features on the two devices.
The Sony Xperia comes with a 5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 650 SoC coupled with 3GB oF RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It features a 23 megapixel rear camera (f/2.0 aperture) along with a 13 megapixel front camera (f/2.0 aperture) for selfies.
The Xperia X Compact on the other hand comes with a smaller 4.6-inch HD display. The specs are largely the same but for the front camera, which is a 5 megapixel shooter.
