Samsung has released an updated version of the Galaxy Tab 8.0. The differences are subtle and nothing massive, making it a rather minor upgrade. The Galaxy tab A series still remains a budget offering and just costs $299. It is available in Black, Gold and Silver finishes.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 features an 8-inch WXGA display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 resolution and a brightness of 480 nits. The display is just fine for everyday tasks and media consumption and is of no concern for the price point. Noticeable bezels are present and the tablet measures in at 212.1 x 124.1 x 8.9 mm.
The all new Galaxy Tab A is powered by the Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage which is expandable upto 256GB via a microSD card. A USB Type C port can be found at the bottom and it is very good on Samsung’s part as smartphones manufacturers usually compromise on this aspect on their budget offerings.
As for optics, there is an 8MP camera with an LED flash unit backed up by a 5MP selfie shooter. The device is fuelled by a 5000 mAh battery and the Galaxy Tab A will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
