Samsung launched the new Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 2017 smartphones in India on Monday. Successors to last year’s A5 and A7 2016, the A5 and A7 2017 were first announced at CES. While the pre-booking for this smartphones started from Monday, both the smartphones will be available for sale from March 15. The pre-booking can be made via Samsung’s online store as well as via offline retailers. The A5 and A7 2017 will be available in the Black Sky and Gold Sand colours.
Both the smartphones, A5 & A7 borrow biggest highlights of the S7 i.e IP68 certified, which makes it dust and water-resistant and also both the phones come with Samsung’s characteristic Always-on display.
Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 Specifications
The Galaxy A5 (2017) sports a 5.2-inch FHD (1080p) Super AMOLED display which comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device powers a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot. On the camera front, the smartphone has a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture both on the front and rear which supports 1080p video recording. . It features a 3,000mAh battery with USB-Type C fast charging support, and there’s a fingerprint scanner on the home button at the front. The A5 is a dual-SIM smartphone that runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based TouchWiz UI.
The A5 is MST-enabled as well which makes it Samsung Pay-ready out-of-the-box. Samsung is yet to formally announce the availability of the mobile payments system in India but considering that it is now signing up users for early access, chances are it might launch the service soon enough.

Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 Specifications
As for the Galaxy A7 2017, the phone is an exact replica of the A5, in terms of looks as well as paper specs differing only in screen size and battery capacity. The A7 has a 5.7-inch screen and a larger 3,600mAh (as opposed to 3,000mAh in case of the A5) battery inside.
While both the devices have same specifications, the Galaxy A7 measures 156.8×77.6×7.9mm, while the Galaxy A5 measures 146.1×71.4×7.9mm.
The Galaxy A5 (2017) has been priced at Rs. 28,990, while the Galaxy A7 (2017) has been priced at Rs. 33,490. With the new upgraded A series smartphones, Samsung is trying to shake-up the premium mid-end smartphone market. The A5 and A7 2017 have been designed specifically to offer a flagship Galaxy S7-kind of experience at a not so flagship Galaxy S7-kind of pricing.
