Oppo and Xiaomi have both raise its interest in the foldable handsets. This is following reports of Huawei competing against the South Korean giant Samsung to create the first-ever foldable Android smartphone in the world.
According to reports, Oppo and Xiaomi are now looking for display manufacturers to supply the foldable panels. For now, there are only a few possible manufacturers to suffice the need of the two smartphone makers – BOE, Visionox, and LG Display.
The choice is integral as Xiaomi is reportedly kicking off production immediately after the announcement, and most likely to choose the one that has the capacity to fulfill such quick demands. However, it is also possible that Xiaomi will source its panel from multiple manufacturers. Unlike Samsung and Huawei, Xiaomi wants to focus its efforts in the Chinese market at first but will go global when they find a way to undercut its competitor’s pricing.
If rumors are to believe, Samsung’s foldable Galaxy smartphone will launch with a price tag ranging from $1,788 to $2,652. Now, that’s a lot of money. But with Chinese competitors come into play, the prices of these foldable smartphones will get as low as $896 to $1,344 which is half the price of the Samsung Galaxy brand.
