Huawei is currently actively upgrading its top-tier handsets to Android Oreo this month. The latest addition to the list is the Huawei P10 Plus. The update is very interesting as it brings a ton of AI features as well as Oreo-related functions to the flagship. The update will arrive as OTA with version B310. However, the update is for the Chinese variant of the phone.
The list of changes is long but we’ll point out the big changes here and also leave the changelog below for users to see. Android Oreo for the Huawei P10 Plus comes with EMUI 8.0. Users will be happy to see new shortcuts to regularly used functions on the navigation dock itself. Also, there will be preloaded themes and app shortcuts on the home screen.
The new interesting AI features include HiTouch, HiBoard, HiVoice, PrivateSpace and more. Now users can do a lot of basic stuff with simply their voice. HiVoice, allows users to turn vital settings like Bluetooth and WiFi on and off with merely your voice. This is only possible in the Chinese language. The AI will also from time to time show pop up tips based on your usage habits. These tips will allow you to get the most out of your phone.
HiTouch enables users to quickly search a keyword by putting two fingers on it from a text page. Doing so will initiate a search and present related results.
HiBoard is kind of like Google Feed. It has a save for later feature for things you read online. Once users save it, the stuff appears in the feed. It is accessed by swiping right on the home screen.
HiBoard also has shortcuts to services that you frequently use. For example, if you use Uber a lot, HiBoard will provide a one-tap shortcut to reach that function.
Apart from these AI features, the apps itself have been optimized for higher efficiency. To name a few, the phone manager has been simplified as is the settings menu which has got a lot of clutter out of the way. Also, voice commands can be used to change many settings besides the usual search function.
