HTC has always built quality smartphones with great build quality. The HTC U11 was no different with an all-glass design with a mirror like finish on the back. However, the smartphone came with thick bezels to the front. Even though the U11 sported high end specifications, the huge chin made it appear less appealing in 2017. Well, HTC is working on fixing that with the U11 Plus.
Recently, Google bought a few hardware engineers and designers from HTC and it’s good to see that it has not hindered the company from working on new smartphones. In fact, rumours also claimed that three new smartphones will launch before the end of 2017.
The HTC U11 Plus( codenamed Ocean Master) will be a step up from the current flagship, the HTC U11. It will feature a 6-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This means that the screen-to-body ratio will increase by a huge margin, eliminating the huge bezels. The screen resolution is expected to be 1440×2880.
The smartphone will be powered by the top-of-the line Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB/6GB of RAM. This will be backed up by 64GB/128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Features like Edge Sense, Quick Charge 3.0 and IP68 dust and water resistance will be present.
As for optics, the 12MP sensor from the U11 will make a return followed by an 8MP selfie shooter. This is disappointing as every other major smartphone manufacturer has switched to a dual-camera setup on the back.
The HTC U11 Plus will be launched in China on November 11. The launch details about the smartphone in other markets is unknown at the moment.
