It’s pretty much a confirmed fact that there is a Gear S3 successor coming up at the IFA 2017 event. Also, Samsung will accompany the Gear S3 with a fitness-centric Gear Fit 2 Pro. However, a recent screen capture by Tizen Cafe in Korea brought to light a third model called Gear Sport. The image of the Samsung website showed other products like Gear VR, Iconx, wireless earbuds, and still unofficially announced Gear Fit 2 Pro. Tizen Cafe shared the image on Twitter.

Thankfully some more info trickled down with the listing of the wearable. The Gear Sport will come with 5 ATM water proofing, an expected feature for a fitness accessory. Also, from the image, we can make out that the device is smaller than the Gear S3. There has been gossip in the industry of a device that would combine both the Gear S3 and Fit 2 into a single body and this might be it. The Gear Sport’s compact body itself makes it worth a shot in my opinion. The Gear S3 was a more heavy chunky piece of device.
If there was any doubt, a new sighting on the Samsung Gear App Store pretty much seals the deal. When a user submits a new application, they also have to select the resolution of Gear wearables the app will support. After selecting 360 x 360 resolution, the next screen (which allows users to choose the device ) displays the Gear Sport, the reported image shows.
The Gear Sport will be marketed by Samsung as a sort of hybrid between smartwatch and fitness band. Samsung’s Gear smartwatches run their own Tizen software and this could be the year when Samsung finally nails it. Well, we’ll have to wait and watch until next week for that.
