We had reported yesterday that a few OnePlus 5 owners were facing a jelly-like scrolling effect. The issue was not replicable on all devices and there were a couple of theories as to why it was happening in the first place. Today, OnePlus finally responded with an official statement regarding the same. The statement reads so,
The OnePlus 5 uses the same level of high-quality components as all OnePlus devices, including the AMOLED display. We’ve received feedback from a small number of users saying that at times they notice a subtle visual effect when scrolling. This is natural and there’s no variance in screens between devices.
The company is effectively stating that the scrolling behaviour is not a problem and will thus not be eligible to be replaced/repaired under warranty. OnePlus also goes on to state that the this is “not a QA or manufacturing defect” and thus the company will also not issue any software patch to remedy the issue.
We are still awaiting a response as to why this issue is occurring in the first place and we would be sharing that information as soon as it reaches us.
