The Mi Max 2 is the successor to the original Mi Max which was launched last year. Like all phablets, the handset proved immensely popular in the subcontinent primarily because of its big display, dual-SIM capabilities and long lasting battery.
The Chinese smartphone major duly noted and has made the Mi Max 2 simply the Mi Max but slightly better. Although the display remains the same in real estate and function, a 6.44-inch full-HD (1080 x1920), the side bezels and inner black borders have been reduced. The Mi Max 2 has the venerable Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 at its heart coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The camera at the rear is a 12-megapixel shooter based on SONY’s IMX386 sensor with a f/2.2 aperture and 1.25µm pixel size. The selfie shooter is a 5-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture. Powering all this hardware is a larger 5300mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
The Mi Max 2 releases with Android Nougat and comes with a USB Type-C connector compared to last years Mi Max which came with a microUSB connector. Pricing is expected to remain close to the original Mi Max though.
