Yet another image of the Mi 6 has surfaced online. The image gives a clear view of the front of the device. The image shows us the presence of an Iris Scanner and a fingerprint sensor up front.
The Iris scanner can be seen situated between the front facing camera and the earpiece. This provides an extra layer of security. Also, a fingerprint sensor which is embedded in the home button, can be seen to the front of the device surrounded by two backlit capacitive keys. It is said to be a physical button but capacitive, indicating that it will be an ultrasonic sensor.
The design largely remains the same. Xiaomi is not looking to bring the bezel-less design to the Mi line, unlike other smartphone manufacturers. This makes sense as the Mi Mix directly competes in this department.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the flagship smartphone will be releasing tomorrow(April 11). We also have an official conformation from the company’s official Weibo account.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM. Rumours have pointed out that a Plus variant with a larger display and a dual camera setup is also in the works. However we do not think that the leaked image corresponds to the Mi 6 Plus.
