Xiaomi, Chinese Smartphone giant after launching its Mi 4i 16GB Variant in April 2015, now seems to be ready to introduce its 32GB or 64GB varaint on its Anniversary on Wednesday 22nd July 2015.
On Monday Xiaomi posted an image which included a cryptic message made out of matchsticks reading “16”, followed by a text stating “Move 4 to double.” From the teaser it is likely that the company will launch the 32GB storage variant of the Mi 4i. However, the price is still unknown. The launch of the product comes as Xiaomi celebrates its one year in the Indian market on July 22.
The current 16GB Mi 4i model does not support a microSD card slot and leaves only 13GB accessible by users. This was considered as the only weak point of the Xiaomi Mi 4i. However, Xiaomi is planning to improve its sales by providing more storage space in its new variant. The hike in the inbuilt storage of the handset would give users much more space to store media content and other files or documents in the handset. Below, is the announcement made by Xiaomi India on its twitter page with a hashtag #MiAnniversary.
“For high performance devices, we are fundamentally against an SD card slot,” Barra said. As SDcards are vulnerable to failures in most cases, and ultimately slows down the device. Barra said some of the issues caused by microSD cards reported by Android smartphones users are app crashing and loss of data.
