It’s starting to become a trend now, I think. Youtubers posting reviews of currently unreleased phones will take the steam out of official launches if this continues. Recently, we saw a full-blown unboxing video of an unreleased OnePlus 5T two weeks ahead of release. Today we’re seeing a pretty similar unboxing of the Galaxy A8/ A8 + 2018. The unboxing signals the impending release of the two premium handsets probably in this month itself.
The 5-minute long unboxing shows off all you would want to know about the handsets design, specs and its wow factor-the Infinity display. However, the reviewer is not speaking English so some details remain hidden. The video clip confirms a lot of presumed things. For example, the Galaxy A3 will be scrapped from the A series, no Bixby button, the speaker grill on the side instead of the bottom and so on. We weren’t impressed by Samsung’s implementation of the Infinity display here as the top and bottom bezels appeared pretty thick for our liking.
Talking about the specs a bit, Samsung has equipped the front with a 16 MP + 8 MP dual selfie camera. The processing power will be supplied by Exynos 7885 chip coupled with 4 GB RAM according to the reviewer. Th smaller model carries a 3,000 mAh battery whereas the bigger one carries a 3,500 mAh battery. Consider this the official specs, because there is no way these are clones of the upcoming Samsung phones.
The handsets can be seen in Gold and Black colours. So all that is now left to be revealed is the pricing and availability details. We hope Samsung doesn’t hike the price once again too much with the handsets as it would already make the premium series a bit tougher to buy. And with all the competition lying around, that would be a bad thing for Samsung.
