At launch, the Xiaomi Mi MIX caught the fancy of many a smartphone buffs due to the innovative nature of its design. It was not however completely an original idea. As readers might recall the Sharp Aquos Crystal deserves that title. Nonetheless, Xiaomi is a more visible brand in these parts of Asia, hence all the attention. Xiaomi was not completely to credit for the design though. They had French designer Philippe Starck to thank for that.

Now, the same designer has put up a short clip on his Facebook account of what’s in store with the Mi MIX 2. And boy, it is going to blow the competition out of the water. The Mi MIX 2 takes bezel-less to another level and even one-ups Samsung in that respect. We’ve heard earlier that the phablet might boast of a whopping 95 percent screen-to-body ratio. In contrast, the S8 has around 85% ratio. Of course, this could also be the real deal, as this is Starck himself posting the “conceptual video”.
Judging from what we see, the selfie camera is still in the lower lip. And latest rumors have suggested that the piezoelectric ceramic speaker used earlier might be replaced by a better earpiece. The latest leaked info also hints at a 3D face recognition feature. All this is unofficial talk and thus hard to digest.
As to the specs, the phone would be a beast like its predecessor. A 6-inch screen from Japan Display, Snapdragon 835, 6 GB of RAM and a 3,400 mAh battery are rumored. Remeber, the phone has hit GFXBench once and we know some of these specs from there. Xiaomi might release the handset sometime in September to compete with the iPhone 8.
