In the wake of display quality issue on the Google Pixel 2 XL and LG V30, Samsung has found a way to make use of the matter to boast the quality of the display on the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8. The commercial (released on YouTube) is just 30 seconds long but it speaks a lot, with a possible intention of making fun of their competitors. It’s simple collage of video reviews from big YouTube names gushing about the quality displays on Samsung devices.
It may seems a bitter move for Samsung, but I think the company is on point with their claim and it just happened to coincide with the issue. I’ve seen many smartphones companies boasting their display panels, but I believe it is Samsung that already mastered the craft of creating beautiful looking displays. And they very well deserve a praise.
While it is Nokia that first started using AMOLED on their phones back in 2008 (Nokia N85), it is Samsung that popularized the technology with Nokia switching back in forth from AMOLED to LCD. Samsung is very consistent in regards of implementing AMOLED and step by step, they were able to address the issues that bugs the technology. It took them years to reach what AMOLED is like right now.
LG, on the other hand, is just starting to develop their technology. And as a product on its infancy stage, little problems like this is more likely to arise. To be clear, I’m not saying that it’s a normal thing because it isn’t, especially when you’re throwing your hard-earned penny on it, expecting it to be better. All I’m saying is that LG is just starting and good things always starts rough.
Samsung’s well-timed commercial was already viewed 3.8 million times on YouTube as the time of writing.
