Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and it’s smaller brother, the Galaxy S8, has set the standard of how the 2017 flagship smartphones would look like. But while others enjoy the comfort of its (their) large stunning displays, some just prefers to have it a little smaller as it’s more convenient to carry and can be easily slide into our pockets. Well, if the Galaxy S8 is still awkwardly bigger to your taste, this flagship smartphone from Samsung might soon have a “mini-me” with “might” as the keyword.
As far as we remember, it was been three years since Samsung stopped making “mini” models of their flagship devices with Galaxy S5 as the last. And if the rumour is real, the company might also change the way they make their smaller and cheaper models. As of now, the only thing we got to substantiate this rumour is the single marketing material above which supposedly shows the “Galaxy S8 Mini” with its larger brothers.
We are yet to hear a confirmation from Samsung regarding this rumour but if incase it is real, we should expect to hear more about the device before the year ends. The Galaxy S8 Mini will follow the same design from the larger variants and will be coming to market without missing any flagship specs. And it is not cheap by the way, just slightly cheaper compared to larger models. With all that said, the Galaxy S8 mini-me will cost less than the current price of the Galaxy S8 ($725, Rs. 46,978.18).
According to IT Home, the Galaxy S8 Mini will have a 5.3-inch display, but will feel like 4.7-inch as the upper and lower bezel is not as narrow as the S8 and S8 Plus. The device will be using Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 instead of the Snapdragon 835 and will be coupled with 4GB of RAM and smaller 32GB of ROM with microSD card support up to 256GB. It will also retain the 12MP rear-facing camera from its larger variants with iris scanner and the same selfie camera in the front. What’s not clear is whether Samsung will include their virtual assistant Bixby on board, but we hope not, especially the Bixby dedicated button.
