Following Xiaomi’s announcement today that the Redmi 5 will be announced on Dec 7, the handset has popped up on TENAA. Moreover, the innards of the handset have also been revealed, courtesy of Slashleaks. The announcement also revealed that the Redmi 5 Plus will be announced alongside its smaller sibling.
Coming to the TENAA listing, the picture shows a design similar to the Redmi Note 5. The phone has a single rear camera beneath which lies a fingerprint sensor. The front has an 18:9 aspect ratio slim bezel display which is all the rage this year.
The leaked specs inform us of a 5.7-inch display with HD+ resolution. The Snapdragon 450 is expected to power the ultra cheap handset. According to the leakster, the REdmi 5 will have a 2/3/4 GB variant with a combination of 16/32/64GB ROM. In terms of camera, the handset will receive a 12 MP rear lens while a 5 MP shooter will occupy the front. The Redmi 5 should come fitted with a 3,200 mAh battery.
The Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be a souped-up Redmi 5 with a Snapdragon 625 chip inside. Also, rumour has it that the Remi 5 Plus will have a bigger 5.99-inch display and a bigger 4,000 mAh battery. Regardless, both the handset should come with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
