You’d be right to think that flagships should get Android OS updates first. But the opposite has just happened yesterday with OnePlus users. It was reported that Indian OnePlus 3/3T owners were getting stable Oreo update notifications. Considering even the 5-day old OnePlus 5T is sitting on Nougat, OnePlus 3T users should consider this a privilege. And indeed it is so, as most of the flagship Android world now still devoid of the latest Oreo taste sits in anticipation.
Back to the update, users should soon receive an OTA notification on their phones, if they haven’t already. The new update should bring some great features anticipated by users for some time. The changelog that notifies the 1.5 GB update is quite short and neat.
OnePlus has mentioned specific features that arrive with the new build. First of them is Parallel Apps. In other words, a feature that allows you to run two instances of a single app in one place. Feature number 2 is Picture in Picture. I’m sure, it doesn’t need any introduction. Other new features include Auto-fill, smart text selection, and a newly designed settings menu.
The update bumps Oxygen OS to v5.0. With it, the launcher now will als be displaying notification dots after the update. Moreover, the changelog says the app folder design has also been revamped. Apart from these new attractions, the package also includes September security patch. To know more with regards the update, you can visit the OnePlus forums.

OnePlus kicked off beta Oreo program for OnePlus 3T sometime in mid-October and a stable build was promised in December. More or less, that promise now stands fulfilled. From a perspective the OnePlus 3/3T getting the update makes sense. Since, the OnePlus 5T is still not in the hands of the curious many. OnePlus says it will deliver Android Oreo to the latest flagship in early 2018.
