Many expected Nokia to launch its latest mid-ranger, the Nokia 7 in India on November 2. Nokia ended up announcing the Nokia 2. It was a global launch of the entry level 99 Euros smartphone. The Nokia 7 was surprisingly launched in China some days back.
Now, the company has opened up about the prospects of an Indian launch of the handset. HMD Global has no plans to sell the phone in India. Or any other country, for that matter. HMD’s Chief Marketing Officer, Pekka Rantala said, “Nokia 7 is designed for Chinese consumers, so currently we’ve no plans to bring it to India”.
The Nokia 7 was launched with premium looks and fairly strong mid-range specs. It sports a Snapdragon 630 SoC coupled with 4 GB RAM. A 5.2-inch 1080p display dominates the front and a 5 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture sits on the top of the screen. At the back is a 16 MP shooter with f/1.8 aperture.
All these components are packed in a unimetal body wit h7000 series aluminium frame and diamond cut edges. The back of the phone is covered by glass and the phone is splash proof.
It’s a bummer that the phone is not going to be available in other countries since it is a premium mid-ranger that falls nicely between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 8. It could have provided an option for buyers who wanted something more than the Nokia 6 but didn’t want to pay for the Nokia 8.
