Samsung is pushing out a new update to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus that brings with it the October security patch along with a few bug fixes and performance improvements. To recollect, the October security patch also came with Bluetooth fixes for some Pixel devices and unfortunately a few Pixel XL users were not able to even install the update.
The update comes with serial number G955FXXU1AQI9 and measures in at around 480MB. It is worthy to note that the update has reached Netherlands first and the other countries are expected to follow soon.
Interestingly, the update brings stability improvements to DeX. Recently, Linux OS support was announced for the Samsung DeX and this update may have something to do with that. It is important to note that the “Linux on Galaxy” Programme is still in it’s early stages and hasn’t turned out to be a reality as of now. Also, the update improves the stability of the launcher.
You can either wait or manually check for the update by going into Settings->Software update->Download updates manually. As always, we would recommend you to update over WiFi to save some mobile data.
