Motorola has released invites for an event scheduled to take place in India on June 27. The phone displayed in the invite looks extremely similar to the leaked images of the Moto Z2 and hence Moto’s next flagship may well be announced in the event. Since the invite is India only, Motorola may announce the Z2 in the launch event in Brazil scheduled on June 21 and then hold a separate event for the Indian audience.
Another interesting point to note is the slogan which reads “Motorola is back”. This is a little confusing as Moto was first owned by Google and then Lenovo. Reports have emerged saying that Lenovo has halted production under Lenovo branding and are moving to Motorola completely. This could be a major announcement in the event.
The image shows a girl holding the Motorola phone in hand and the back of the phone is exposed. We can see a dual camera setup at the back in a circular frame that protrudes out like other Moto phones. The phone appears to be in a glossy black finish and exhibits a unibody design.
The Moto Z2 is expected to pack a 5.5 inch Quad HD display with minimal bezels. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4/6 GB of RAM. The phone is also expected to ship with 64GB of non-expandable storage.
The Moto Z2 will retain the physical home button on the front, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The battery is said to be larger but we don’t have a particular number leaked as of yet. As for cameras, we do not have much information apart from the detail that a front facing flash will make an appearance.
Do you think the Moto Z2 can compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6? Let us know in the comments below.
