When Xiaomi’s novel Mi MIX launched, it had such an eye-catching new design that everyone grew fond of it instantly. Sadly, the company just didn;t make the phone available outside of China. Even then, many ordered the phone through third party sellers. But, with the Mi MIX 2 getting global attraction today, it seems that is set to change. A report from Android Central says that Xiaomi plans to launch the Mi MIX 2 in India “very soon”. This was what Xiang Wang, Xiaomi SVP said in an interview. So, I guess this is an official confirmation.
Now, there aren’t any ETAs but Xiaomi might drop the device in India before the Diwali festive season. Meanwhile, the Mi MIX 2 standard models are gearing up for retail this month itself while the Special Edition will go on sale in October. Also, the Mi Note 3 is expected to go on sale right from tomorrow in China. No plans for its global release are available. The Mi MIX 2 will be the latest Xiaomi flagship in India after more than 1.5 years.
The Mi 6 hasn’t yet reached Indian shores. But lately, the company has started pumping India with infrastructure investments that include retail as well as manufacturing divisions.
There isn’t any confirmation on the price either. What we can assume is that it will be close to the Chinese retail price of the Mi MIX 2. Since Xiaomi always prices their products very aggressively we can expect a price around Rs 35,000 approximately.
Apart from the good news, the SVP also said they are planning to launch several other ecosystem products in India in the coming months. Lately. Xiaomi has also started to make inroads in the offline segment and a wider product choice will be helpful in their expansion.
