Since its acquisition by Lenovo, Motorola has added a couple of new smartphones to its product stack; one of them was the high-end MOTO Z series and the other was the premium budget MOTO M. The company has in this year even launched the MOTO C and GS series of handsets to further improve its market coverage. Now, a handset bearing the model number lenovo XT1902-3 has surfaced on Geekbench, courtesy @rquandt.

The handset is expected to be a successor to last years MOTO M since it is packing the MediaTek MT6797 Soc better known as the Helio X20. It features a deca-core CPU that can clock up to 1.85GHz. The Geekbench (screenshot above) listing also shows the handset having 4 GB of RAM and running Android v.7.1.1, Nougat. Featuring those specifications, the XT1920-3 puts up scores of 1163 points and 4836 points in single-core and multi-core benchmark tests.
The reason why this device is suspected of being a successor to last year’s MOTO M is the presence of high-end MediaTek SoC onboard. The MOTO M released last year had a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset while the Indian variant of the handset had the Helio P15 SoC. Another reason as to why the lenovo XT1902-3 is being considered as the successor to the MOTO M is because Motorola mostly does not use their chipsets on its devices although they have pivoted to MediaTek with the newly released MOTO C series handsets and this year’s MOTO E devices.
Interestingly the MOTO M did not make an appearance on the leaked presentation of Motorola’s upcoming launches for the year. Whether the upcoming XT1902-3 is indeed the MOTO M’s successor is something that cannot be guaranteed but it will be an interesting device to keep an eye on.
