It is common knowledge that Huawei has plans to reveal its Mate 10 range of phablets on the 16th of October. Now, VentureBeat claims to have details on these devices thanks to marketing material it was handed by a confidential source who is in the know about Huawei’s plans.

The plans reveal detailed specifications about two models codenamed “Alps” and “Blanc” which will be revealed apart from a third device known as Marcel.
The “Blanc”
The Blanc is likely christened after the tallest peak in the Swiss Alps, Mont Blanc. It is going to be powered by Huawei’s latest in-house HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal memory. Featuring a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display panel featuring the newer 18:9 aspect ratio. On the camera front, Huawei has equipped with a dual camera system developed in partnership with Leica. The dual camera is composed of a 12-megapixel and 20-megapixel sensor, both featuring a f/1.6 aperture and optically stabilised. Selfie duties are to be handled by an 8-megapixel sensor.
The Blanc is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. It would feature an LTE Cat.16 modem and will tentatively ship sometime in Decemeber. Powering all this hardwre is a 4000mAh battery inside a 7.5mm thin chassis while out of the box the smartphone is expected to run Android Oreo under Huawei’s proprietary EMUI v.6.0 skin.
Looking at the specifications on offer, it is speculated that the “Blanc” is the Huawei Mate 10 Pro.
The smaller “Alps”
The Alps is watered down when compared to the Blanc but it does have its flagship credentials in order. Featuring the same Kirin 970 SoC as the Blanc the Alps only gets 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. The display is a 5.88-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1440 x2560 which represents the more traditional widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio. Powering this hardware is the same 4000mAh battery but in a slightly stubbier 8.23mm thick chassis.
The modem gets downgraded too to an LTE Cat.12 type. The upside to this more traditional hardware is that the Alps is expected to be revealed on the 16th of October and ship later that month.
