Recently a mysterious handset had surfaced on Weibo bearing Huawei’s Honor branding on it. The smartphone was heralded as the Huawei Honor V9 Mini. Today the subsidiary announced via its official handle on Weibo that this is indeed a model in the works, called the Honor V9 Play and that it would release on the 6th of September.
According to a Chinese new agency, the handset will be powered by Huawei’s in house HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC. This would be complemented with 4GB of RAM. The primary shooter will be a 12-megapixel sensor at the back with a fingerprint scanner positioned below it. In the meanwhile more images of the handset have appeared on Chinese smartphone certification agency, TENAA’s website.
The report also states that the Honor V9 Play will cost ~¥1,499 (~$225).
