Early on in 2018, one of the first phones to be hogged by the rumour mill is the HTC U12. The to-be successor of the HTC U11 will be an all-round flagship device from the Taiwanese manufacturer. HTC has had just one model in its ranks in 2017 that supported the 18:9 aspect ratio, and that was the HTC U11 +. So, a new rumoured image seems to suggest that HTC might double down on bezel-less phones in 2018.
An alleged image of the HTC U12 has sprung up online yesterday that shows off a near-bezel-less display.
It’s a pity that the phone’s front is completely black in colour and it camouflages the display panel. Hence, it is difficult to make out the thin bezels. However, close inspection shows thin bezels indeed. Besides bezels, there are few details such as the power button, volume buttons, and charge slots that are visible. There’s a single front camera on the phone and not a dual camera as some might want.
Amongst other rumours of the HTC U12, the phone will feature a 4K display. This is something that has already been done by Sony in its flagships a couple of years back. Although appealing, the use of 4K is marred by a low amount of content available to view in that resolution. Moreover, this is simply a rumour and not a sealed deal.
The HTC U12 is still off by some months as the HTC U11 was launched in May 2017. And I am sure we’ll see even more glimpses of the flagship before it goes official.
