Today we expected Huawei to launch an Honor 9, instead, we got an Honor 9i. The company had tweeted two days earlier that a new phone was in the pipeline for India. But this is a surprise. The Honor 9i is, by all means, the Huawei Maimang 6 of China and the Nova 2i of Malaysia. All three are one and the same thing. Huawei has launched the phone under the Honor brand and priced the phone at Rs 17,999. Buyers can choose from Platinum Gold, Midnight Black, and Navy Blue colour shades. You’ll find the phone on Flipkart exclusively from October 14.
Huawei’s Honor 9i brings one more thin bezel contender to the mid-range segment in the Indian market apart from LG Q6. The USP of the phone is dual front and rear cameras as well as a 5.9-inch FHD display with 2.5D curved glass. It has an 18:9 aspect ratio and the Kirin 659 chipset that works in tandem with 4 GB RAM. Users can expect at least 64 GB of internal storage expandable up to 256 GB which is quite nice.
The Honor 9i also comes with Android 7.0 Nougat layered with EMUI. It has plenty of juice for the day, thanks to the 3340 mAh battery encased in the metal chassis. The rear of the Honor 9i has a 16 MP + 2 MP lens while a 13 MP + 2 MP duo sit at the front. Connectivity, as usual, has the regular options like 4G VoLTE, WiFI 802.11, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and NFC.
Considering the mid-range bezel-less segment is virtually untapped aside from the LG Q6, Huawei has a really good offering here. It has processing power something which the LG Q6 lacks, the good looks, and a compelling price tag too. The phone is discounted right now by 10% in pre-order phase. The actual price is Rs 19,999.
