Just hours before the event, HMD Global went to its official Weibo account to announce the cancellation of the Nokia X5 product launch. Thankfully, the postponement is said to have something to do with securing the venue rather than the total scrapping of the X5. The company is yet to disclose a new launch date.
The Nokia X5 will come with a 5.86-inch 720p panel, with a wide notch on the top. Unlike the X6, the X5 will feature an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 clocked at 2.0GHz. The chip is notable for its powerful Mali G76 GPU and AI capabilities, as well as improved performance and battery consumption. This will then be coupled with either 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of expandable onboard storage. The battery capacity is will be around 3,000mAh.
The X5 is also expected to feature a dual rear-facing camera (13MP/5MP) with the setup yet unknown. However, with the lower resolution secondary camera (5MP), we don’t expect it to come with a telephoto lens. Software-wise, the handset will come preinstalled with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo.
