Samsung just released a high-end clamshell phone after leaksters had gone crazy over the luxury flip phone. The handset labelled W2018 packs some serious punch on the spec sheet and a camera which touchscreen Android phones can only dream of. Here we have another fresh new Gionee clamshell that was spotted on TENAA.
Gionee also has a series that caters to this niche premium flip phone segment. We last saw a Gionee W909 get released at the end of March 2016. Since then, a successor hasn’t arrived. The flip phone we are talking about is named W919 by the new leak. It’s safe to say this is the successor to the W909 of last year.
Now, we don’t have a lot of leaked info but just some basic specs that the tipster of the leak has reported. According to him, the handset is just a 4.2-inch dual screen phone. A 2.5 GHz SoC is reported to be powering the upcoming phone. Now, regardless of whether 6 GB of RAM is needed for such a device, it has been put in there along with 128 GB of storage. A 3000 mAh battery will power the Android 7.0-running new phone.
Looking at the pics provided to us by TENAA, we can say that it has a single rear camera lens. Beneath it, lies a square-shaped fingerprint sensor. There was a front facing camera in the previous iteration, so it is bound to be present here as well.
Since the phone has passed TENAA, we won’t have to wait much before it goes into some Chinese hands. But beware, it is not going to be a cheap device. Its predecessor cost 3,999 Yuan or Rs 41,000.
