We have known about Samsung’s plans to launch an Active variant of their latest flagship, the Galaxy S8 but not much was known apart from its existence. Today, one more detail regarding the Galaxy S8 Active has been given to us courtesy, @Evan Blass who posted the first high-resolution images of the handset.

The leaked render gives us a good look at the ruggedised version of the Korean Electronics behemoths flagship. We can see that just as anticipated the delicate curved Infinity Display has been swapped out in favour of a far more pragmatic flat 5.8-inch tall resolution (1440 x2960) Super AMOLED panel with curved corners.
Apart from being IP68 compliant the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is also certified to certain MIL-STD-810G standards. This includes being drop-proof (from up to 5 feet) and comes with a rather large 4000mAh battery unit. Apart from these ruggedised elements, the smartphone comes with a similar feature set as the non-rugged Galaxy S8 range. The SoC is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (expandable). On the camera front, it carries the same 12-megapixel rear shooter and an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.
Like always the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be exclusive to AT&T in the US. Pricing details and reveal dates should come to us in the coming days if not weeks.
