The year 2017 was proved to be a very successful year for HMD Global– the company that licensed to use the Nokia brand on their phones. In fact, according to the third quarter data provided by CounterPoint Research, HMD (Nokia) is currently the top 8 smartphone manufacturer worldwide. The brand is forecasted to climb at an even higher spot by the end of Q4 with the introduction of NOKIA 6 and NOKIA 8 in some markets.
Now that we’re just weeks away from 2018, HMD is gearing up to launch its year starter handsets in China. Some of these handsets are already made known to the public by incessant leaks but the one that made us so excited within this last few days is no other than the 2018 edition NOKIA 6.
Earlier this week, we heard a rumor saying that the NOKIA 6 (2018) will have a major design overhaul, as well as new processor mentioned to belong to Snapdragon Series 6XX. Images from TENAA confirmed the change of design, but the choice of processor remains a secret.
But last day, sources from Nokibar forum confirmed that the NOKIA 6 (2018) will either have 5.5″ or 6″ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. He also mentioned that the device isn’t going to use Snapdragon 630 instead it will have Snapdragon 450 under the hood. Snapdragon 450 was built in a 14nm process so that means it will be energy efficient. It will also be 30% faster than its predecessor and can support up to 21MP camera and Quick Charge 3.0. This news will surely disappoint those NOKIA 6 (2017) users that want to upgrade to the 2018 edition. This is, however, understandable considering the price.
Current NOKIA 6 users will more likely not going to upgrade but this little changes will appeal those that are first timers of the brand. The NOKIA 6 (2018) is set to debut in China next month but is also expected to show up in CES and MWC 2018 along with other new models.
