Coolpad, the Chinese OEM has announced that it will launch the Cool Play 6 at an event in Dubai. The event is scheduled for the 20th of August. We are not aware of what segment the device will fall in but considering its hardware specifications it is likely to be somewhere in between entry-level and mid-range products although Coolpad considers it as the brand’s flagship.
The Cool Play 6 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory which is expandable via microSD card. The display on the device is a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080 x1920) panel. On the camera front, Coolpad has opted for dual 13-megapixel setup at the back, both sensors feature a f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection AutoFocus and feature a dual-LED CCT flash. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel sensor with a f/2.2 aperture up front. The device is powered by a non-removable 4060mAh battery unit and out of the box the Cool Play 6 will be running on Android v.7.1.1, Nougat.
The device has a fingerprint scanner at the back below the dual-camera module. Although the frame features metal, it is not a unibody design. The Cool Play 6 will come with dual-SIM support although it is not known if the tray is of a hybrid type, the device is compatible with 4G bands (including VoLTE). Apart from that, the device features Wi-Fi 802.11 up to the dual band ac standard, Bluetooth v.4.1, A-GPS. For charging and hardware interconnectivity the device comes with a USB Type-C connector and a 3.5mm audio jack.
