If you remember correctly, we had reported sometime back that ASUS planned to shut down its ZenWatch line. But instead of behaving like a scornful partner the company had announced the Android Wear 2.0 update for the ZenWatch 2 and 3. The original timeline for this update was to be sometime in Q2 according to ASUS but now we have entered Q3 and still, there is no sign of the same. Now in a recent tweet while replying to a ZenWatch 2 user’s query ASUS’s official German account stated that the smartwatch should get the update sometime in July-August.
Für die ZW2 wird es eigene Updates geben – ZW2 WI501Q wird voraussichtlich im Juli kommen, ZW2 WI502Q voraussichtlich im August.

In the meanwhile, ASUS USA had stated that the ZenWatch 3 should get the update sometime in “the coming weeks if everything goes smoothly” on their twitter handle which has now been redacted.
For now, we cannot state when ASUS will finally start seeding the update but would be eagerly watching how soon it does so. The Android Wear 2.0 update brings a host of improvements to Android Wearables; It redesigns the notifications, improves the UI and UX. The update also brings Google Assistant to wearables and more meaningful Play Store integration apart from making smartwatches compatible with Android Pay if they have the requisite hardware.
